THAPELO MAKWELA
Makwela, as he prefers to be called, is originally from Bloemfontein in the Free State, but now calls Cape Town his home. He’s been part of the security team at Stonehurst for five years and told us that his favourite part of the job is engaging with people and helping them out with the information they need. Although working on public holidays and weekends isn’t always fun, Makwela struggles to find any aspect of his job to complain about.
Makwela is a quiet person, and enjoys spending time with his family, visiting his brothers and playing music. Before joining the Stonehurst team, Makwela was employed by BOSASA and worked as a chef at Pollsmoor Prison. He proudly describes cooking as his thing and we’re sure he whipped up some fantastic dishes for the staff at Pollsmoor.
